The global transition to sustainable infrastructure is a pressing priority. To address this need, the FAST-Infra Label introduces the FAST-Infra Access Programme — a groundbreaking opportunity designed to support infrastructure projects with significant sustainability potential, especially in low-income contexts. Co-funded by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and FAST-Infra Label, this programme empowers developers to adopt sustainability improvements early in their projects, overcoming common liquidity challenges.

What is the FAST-Infra Access Programme?

The programme provides a repayable grant to cover the costs of the verification process and obtain the internationally recognized FAST-Infra Label. This label certifies projects that meet rigorous Environmental, Social, Governance, and Resilience (ESG+R) criteria, enhancing their credibility and visibility among investors.

Through a transparent process, projects can:

  1. Complete a Self-assessment of their alignment with FAST-Infra Label (know how to register your projects and complete the process: here the Self-assessment).
  2. Obtain the FAST-Infra Label Verified, showcasing their sustainability credentials. (know who are the Verification bodies: here)
  3. Have the cost of the verification refunded
  4. Gain access to a global network of investors actively seeking impactful infrastructure opportunities.

The FAST-Infra Access Programme ensures sustainability initiatives are scalable, diverse, and regionally inclusive, with projects repaying the grant upon reaching financial close.

Eligibility Criteria and Application

Infrastructure projects across various sectors are eligible, provided they:

  • Have a CAPEX of at least $10 million (or portfolios meeting this threshold).
  • Are in pre-construction or construction phases.
  • Aim to make a measurable positive contribution to sustainability objectives defined under the FAST-Infra Label.

The application deadline for the inaugural cohort is 30 March 2025. To apply, developers complete a detailed application form outlining their project, sustainability goals, and readiness for financial close.

Why the FAST-Infra Label?

Developed collaboratively by the Global Infrastructure Facility (GIF), Macquarie, HSBC, the OECD, the IFC, and the Climate Policy Initiative (CPI), the FAST-Infra Label is a globally recognized standard for sustainable infrastructure. Supported by Global Infrastructure Basel (GIB) and Bloomberg L.P., it ensures that projects adhere to best practices and contribute meaningfully to a low-carbon, resilient future.

By fostering transparency and reliability, the label empowers developers to mitigate risks, attract investments, and advance sustainability goals. Projects bearing this label gain a competitive edge, positioning themselves as trailblazers in sustainable infrastructure.

The FAST-Infra Access Programme marks a significant milestone in accelerating the adoption of sustainable practices in infrastructure development. By bridging the gap between innovative project ideas and the resources needed to bring them to life, FAST-Infra Label is paving the way for a more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient future.
